Features & Topography
Marsa Egla’s landscape is one of the most diver-friendly along the coast, beginning with a soft sandy beach entry into a calm, shallow lagoon. As you move outward, the site reveals:
Seagrass Beds: Located at the center of the bay, attracting large green turtles and goatfish.
Sloping Reef: Starting around 6–8 meters and descending gradually to ~25 meters, covered with hard and soft corals.
Coral Blocks: Scattered across the bottom with plenty of hiding spots for marine life.
Northern Wall: Slightly steeper with more colorful coral growth and dense fish activity.
Southern Side: Known for macro species and sand-loving creatures like flounders and blue-spotted stingrays.
This topography is perfect for long dives with gradual depth progression, and for photographers seeking good light and subject variety.

Marine Life
Marsa Egla is especially famous for its resident green sea turtles, often seen feeding peacefully in the seagrass beds or swimming close to divers.
Common marine life includes:
🐢 Green turtles grazing in the lagoon
🐟 Parrotfish, butterflyfish, lionfish, and wrasses
🐠 Goatfish, snappers, fusiliers, and sergeant majors
🦀 Nudibranchs, cleaner shrimp, and pipefish around coral heads
🐙 Moray eels, cuttlefish, and blue-spotted stingrays hiding along the reef
With a bit of luck, divers may also spot eagle rays or barracudas in the deeper sections of the bay. Marsa Egla is a perfect site for marine life lovers and underwater photographers alike.
